Ancistrocerus gazella (Other wasps)

Dispersal:
Two female specimens of Ancistrocerus gazella were collected indoors by M. J. Taylor (Orakei, Auckland) on the 3 and 8 February, 1988. On 11 February 1 female was collected, also indoors, by S. DeRenzy (Mt. Eden, Auckland).
Harris (1994) reported it from various locations in Central Otago. NZAC records are from AK, CL, WO, HB, WI, MB.
Ecology:
Harris (1994) found it preys mostly on Tortricidae caterpillars. It makes tubular nests of 1--20 cells above the ground in various types of cavities and crevices.
